Kraussia truncatifrons

Sakai, 1974

The new species has frequently been confused with Kraussia integra (de Haan), the general aspects of both species being so closely resembling. The front of truncatifrons is divided into two lobes by a median notch, each lobe transversely straight and not at all lobulated. No preorbital and upper orbital fissures, the frontal border perfectly continuous with the orbital margin. The antero-lateral borders are, like those of integra, marked with an indentation in the anterior one-third. The palm of chelipeds is almost smooth on the upper and outer surfaces; in relatively younger specimens, however, the outer surface is squamiform with rugae.
The distal piece of the anterior pleopod of male is spatulated, a little broader than that of Kraussia integra. (Sakai, 1974: 90)
