Carapace with regions only poorly visible, surface with numerous clusters of hairs arranged in transverse rows; front formed by a single bispinous process; upper inner orbital spines strongly developed reaching clearly beyond the frontal spines; teeth of lateral borders directed straightly outwards, bearing a cluster of hairs at or near their tip, las teeth at the postero-lateral corners. Chelipeds smaller than ambulatory legs, only sparsely hairy. Ambulatory legs with few hairs at their borders. (Türkay 1995)

Range: Mozambique - Delagoa Bay (Barnard, 1947); Sri Lanka; Japan - Shimoda (Sakai, 1935), Misaki and Nagasaki (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay, Ise Bay and Nagasaki (Sakai, 1976a), Nanki Shirahama (Miyake, 1983); East China Sea (Dai & Yang, 1991); Singapore (Nobili, 1903c); Celebes Sea (Miers, 1886); Australia - South Australia (Hale, 1927), between Cape Moreton and Mooloolabah (Campbell, 1971); New Caledonia (A. Milne Edwards, 1874).
