Carapace broader than long, transversely ovate, anterior part broader than posterior part, convex, thickly covered with pubescence, usually stained with mud, when denuded covered with granules and numerous larger pustulous tubercles. Protogastric and branchial regions each with three larger tubercles, triangulated in position. Hepatic region with two, posterior one larger than anterior one. Cardiac region with two, side by side in position. Front narrow, bidentate, separated by a V-shaped notch at the middle. Third maxillipeds covered with pubescence; with a longitudinal row of 6 large granules on the median part of the ischium. With two sutures on dorsal-orbital border, outerorbital angle acutely projected. Antero-lateral margin with 4 sharp spines increasing in size from the front backwards. Postero-lateral margins with 2 spinules. Posterior margin narrow, with a tooth at each end.
Chelipeds covered with short hairs. Merus prismatic. Carpus small. Palm ovate. Fingers slender, longer than palm, inner borders finely denticulated, with 4 larger sharp teeth at distant intervals, bent inwards at the tip. Ambulatory legs with pubescence; dactylus longer than propodus, fringed with short setae.
First pleopod of the male slender, shave-shaped distally. Abdomen narrowly triangular; third to fifth segments fused; telson shorter than sixth segment. Abdomen of female ovate; 7-segmented telson triangular. Carapace length of the male 10.7-12 mm, breadth 17-20 mm; of the female, length 11.5-14.4 mm, breadth 18.5-24.5 mm.
Habitat: soft muddy or coarse sandy bottoms, 25-106 m deep. (Dai & Yang, 1991)
