Praebebalia shikokuensis

(Yokoya, 1933)

Carapace nearly as long as broad; front bilobate, emarginate; orbit small; hepatic region expanded; on each side of the posterior margin there is a tubercle, and one more on the medial line. The latter is a little above the level of the lateral ones. Surface moderately convex, finely granulated. In the external maxilliped, the exognath is nearly as wide as the endognath, in which the merus is as long as the basi-ischium in the inner margin. Legs subcylindrical. The cheliped is very long in the male and the palm of the chela is a little longer than one and a half times the length of the finger. The proximal half of the movable finger is arcuate inwards and devoid of teeth on the inner margin, while the terminal half is nearly straight, and on the inner margin there are a prominent tooth and a number of small ones. The immovable finger is a little bent outwards at the base, but distally nearly straight, leaving a wide gape at the base between both fingers. In the female, the cheliped is not so long as that of the male, and the finger is nearly as long as the palm. Both fingers are straight, leaving no space between them, when they are closed. The abdomen consists of four segments in the male, while in the female it is three-segmented. (Yokoya, 1933)
