Lyreidus brevifrons

Carapace somewhat constricted immediately behind the external orbital angles, which are prominent and projecting beyond the tip of front, distance between the tips of the external orbital angles more than one third of extreme width of carapace; antero-lateral borders with one spine. Carpus of cheliped armed with two spines. Second and third pereiopods smooth and shiny, fourth pereiopod with flattened dactyl. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: Mimase, Tosa Bay, Japan.
Range: Tanzania - Dar es Salaam; Japan - Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1937a), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Sagami Bay, Kii Minabe and Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1976a); South China Sea; Philippines - near Lubang Island (Serène & Vadon, 1981), north of Lubang Island, Verde Island Passage, south of Bondoc Peninsula, Mompog Pass and south of Tayabas Bay (Goeke, 1986); 50-520 m.
