Genus Pulcratis

Carapace oval, regions poorly defined; dorsal surface smooth; background white, reticulated with orange lines in life; front low, divided into 2 lobes by narrow fissure; antero-lateral margin strongly arcuate, divided into 4 very low, rounded lobes (including external orbital angle), each demarcated by short fissure; postero-lateral margins almost straight. Distal part of ocular peduncle with numerous granules. Chelipeds smooth to slightly punctate; dorsal margin of palm with transverse foliaceous crest which is broadest proximally; inner margin of carpus with well-developed lamelliform tooth; dorsal and ventral margins of merus strongly cristate. Ambulatory legs with dorsal margin of merus and carpus, and dorsal and ventral margins of propodus distinctly cristate. Thoracic sternites 1 and 2 completely fused; male abdominal cavity reaching imaginary line connecting proximal part of chelipedal coxae. Male abdominal segments 3-5 completely fused without trace of sutures; segment 1 slightly broader than segment 2. (Ng & Huang, 1997)
