Genus Lupocyclus

Carapace slightly broader than long, convex, covered with a fine pile of hairs, surface with granules, lines of granules or granular patches; front protruding, with 4 or 6 teeth; antero-lateral borders with 5-9 teeth, of these 5-6 are the main teeth, the increased number come from intercalated secondary spinules. Basal antennal joint as long as broad, filling orbital hiatus; flagellum not excluded from orbita. Chelipeds long and slender, with squamiform markings; fingers long and slender. Ambulatory legs slender; fifth leg natatorial, merus with a posterior spine. (Türkay 1995)

Carapace relatively narrow, only slightly broader than long; typically 8-9 antero-lateral teeth, often alternating small and larger, but last antero-lateral tooth not markedly larger than remainder; sometimes 5-6 subequal antero-lateral teeth; chelae moderately to extremely long. (Davie 1999)
