Genus Polydectus

H. Milne Edwards, 1837

Carapace and legs entirely covered with thick tomentum of woolly setae and only leaving exposed the cupuliform tubercle marking the exorbital angle. After denudation, surface smooth and antero-lateral margins divided in teeth or lobes. Orbital margin with three cupuliform tubercles, two infraorbital, the third being strongly spatulate and situated on exorbital angle. Front about half the greatest breadth of the carapace. Chelipeds short and squat, with the palm as broad as long; fingers usually armed with two teeth on the dactyl and three on the fixed finger. (Guinot 1998)
