The true front lying below the eyestalks, very narrow. Orbits continued along the whole of the anterior margin of the carapace, which are deeply grooved. Eyestalks of enormous length. Antennules lodged in fossae beneath the front, in which they are not completely retractile. Antennae with the basal article short; flagellum long and slender, included in the orbit. Epistome short or even linear. Buccal cavern squarish. Ambulatory legs: P5 paddle-shaped. (Guinot 1998)

Chelipeds much longer than ambulatory legs, bearing a set of spines on merus, carpus and palm. Last pair of legs with paddle-shaped propodus and dactylus. (After Apel and Spiridonov, 1998).
