Carapace relatively narrower, somewhat octogonal, more or less depressed and expanded at sides. Surface very uneven, wholly or partly eroded, having generally six chief protuberances. Front produced, forming a true rostrum, either thick and bilobed or thin, sharp-edged. Antennules oblique. Orbits small. Buccal cavern very narrow forward and triangular. Merus of third maxillipeds elongate and pointed at the tip. Efferent branchial channels not separated. Ambulatory legs without spines nor tubercles. (Guinot 1998)
