Tmethypocoelis ceratophora

(Koelbel, 1897)

Carapace approximately pentagonal, convex along mid-dorsal line, slightly convex laterally, cervical groove dividing gastric and cardiac regions, well marked, cardiac region with slight depression; front narrow, only abt 0.2 times fronto-orbital breadth; lateral borders distinctly converging. Third maxillipeds not closing buccal cavern, merus slightly larger than ischium. Male chelipeds stout, subequal, merus reaching much higher than top uf carapace, with tympana on inner and outer face; palm elongate, length (excluding fixed finger) about 1.7 times height, lower border with supra-marginal groove extending for most of length of fixed finger; cutting margin of fixed finger with a broadly raised serrated tooth; dactyl without clear median row of granules on outer surface. Range: Japan - Okinawa-jima and Ishigaki-jima (Sakai, 1976a), Ishigaki-jima (Miyake, 1983), Ginowan, Okinawa (Shokita et al., 2000); China - Hong Kong (Koelbel, 1897), near Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Xiamen (Shen, 1935), Hainan Island (Shen, 1936), Xiamen, Liuwutien, Tsimei, and Hainan Island (Shen, 1940b), Guangdong and Fujian (Dai & Yang, 1991); Taiwan - Tan-shui and Lan-Yü (Sakai, 1939, 1976, Lin, 1949), Tan-shui River and Lan-Yan Creek (Huang et al., 1992); Indonesia - Lombok (Tesch, 1918a).
