Carapace slightly broader than long, subquadrate, convex. Surface evenly covered with granules. Regions distinguishable. Behind orbital region two longitudinal shallow traces. Between gastric and cardiac regions with an H-shaped groove, its distal ends extending laterally. Front narrow and rounded, deflected. Innerorbital tooth prominent, outerorbital tooth small, directed laterally forwards. Eyestalks stout, prolonged beyond the outerorbital angle, cornea swollen. Merus of third maxilliped as long as broad. Exopod slender, its distal end reaches the basal one-fifth of ischium.
Chelipeds strongly asymmetrical in both sexes. Merus of the large chela with inner-ventral margin carinated, its distal half protruded into a serrated leaf-like plate. Carpus with an acutely spine-like inner-distal angle. Palm of large chela compressed, 12 times as high as long, serrated on the dorsal and ventral margins, its outer surface covered with granules, its inner surface with a stridulating ridge, which consists of 58 fine striae in the male, 40 in the female and a patch of hairs. Immovable finger broadly compressed. Ambulatory legs slender, the last pair short and small. Propodus and dactylus of the first and second pairs with short hairs on the anterior margin.
First pleopod of the male slender, its distal part slightly outcurved, subdistal protrusion blunt. Abdomen elongate, sixth segment 1.1 times as broad as long, distal margin of telson obtusely rounded with short hairs. Abdomen of the female ovate. Telson rounded, subquadrate, sinuated into the segment. Carapace length of the male 25.4 mm, breadth 28.4 mm; of the female, length 26.5 mm, breadth 30.3 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)

Type locality: Sai Wan, Tai Long Wan, E. New Territories, Hong Kong.
Range: Japan - Muroto-misaki (Sakai K., 2000); China - Hong Kong (George, 1982), Guangxi and Guangdong including Hainan Island (Dai & Yang, 1991).
