Eumedonus vicinus

Rathbun, 1918

Carapace broader than that of Eumedonus granulosus and the regions less distinctly delimited, the dorsal surface smooth and everywhere pitted but not granulated. The rostrum, when compared with that of E. granulosus is broader and shorter, and its tip deeply bifurcated, each lobe being directed forwards or rather outwards in full-grown specimen. The lateral angles produced into a stout pointed tooth.
The chelipeds are stouter than that of E. granulosus, the merus compressed and its anterior and posterior borders medially armed with a lobule; the inner angle of wrist is armed with a blade-like tooth, the upper border of palm cristate and is cut into two lobular teeth. The anterior border of merus, carpus, and propodus and the posterior border of merus of the ambulatory legs are sharply cristate. (Sakai, 1938: 348)
