Xanthias canaliculatus

Rathbun, 1906

Carapace transversely oval and very smooth, the regions are moderately defined, i.e., 2M, 3M and 4M are united and 2L is well defined and somewhat convex. The frontal lobes are moderately convex near the median notch but they are only shallowly separated from the supraorbital border. There are four broad lobes on the antero-lateral border exclusive of the external orbital angle, of which the first two are round but the posterior two obtusely pointed.
Chelipeds are symmetrical, the arm is flattened on inner surface and bordered with hairs along the superior and inferior edges; wrist is massive and has an obtuse tooth at the inner angle, a deep groove runs parallel to the antero-external edge; palm with its superior border obtusely ridged, having three longitudinal grooves on outer surface. Fingers are pointed and curved inward at tip. Ambulatory legs are very thickly covered with hairs along the anterior border of each segment. (T. Sakai, 1939: 466)
