Carapace about 1.6 times broader than long. No tooth at epibranchial angle of carapace. Surface of carapace very finely punctate and smooth. Front nearly straight and feebly sinuous. Third maxilliped with external surface smooth. Crest on antero-lateral margins of carapace continued to epibranchial angle by a short transverse crest on epibranchial region. Chelipeds have clearly defined crest on superior margin of palm. Colour is reddish with spots of yellow, sometimes uniform brown. Attains 120 mm carapace breadth. (Davie 1997)
