Atergatis dilatatus

Carapace more than 1.5 times broader than long. Epibranchial angle of carapace with short obtuse tooth marking extremity of crest of antero-lateral margin; front nearly straight and hardly sinuous with submedian lobes hardly advanced and separated by a feeble sinus. Pterygostomial regions are deeply hollowed. Third maxilliped has external surface covered with long, compact setae. Carapace surface wholly and regularly stippled, except for median part. Colour is a uniform orange to brownish-red without touches of other colour, at least in adults. Attains 80 mm crapace breadth. (Davie 1997)
