Carapace about 2 times as broad as long, surface uneven, regions well defined, a rather deep groove extends from the median region to the base of the second antero-lateral tooth; front bilobed, horizontal; second antero-lateral tooth much smaller than first. Eyestalk without pterygoid expansions. Chelipeds asymmetrical, right slightly heavier than left; merus with 2 spines on anterior and posterior borders, respectively; carpus with exterior spinule; distal portion of inner surface of palm without a spinule. Carapace breadth ca. 2 times length; front bilobed, horizontal; eyestalks without wing-like expansions; distal portion of inner surface of palm of cheliped without a spinule. (Davie 1999)

Type locality: Andaman Islands.
Range: Madagascar - Nosy Bé and île Tany Kely (Crosnier & Thomassin, 1974); east India; Gulf of Martaban (Alcock, 1899a); Andaman Islands (Alcock, 1899a); Japan - Nanki Shirahama (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Sagami Bay and Nanki Shirahama (Sakai, 1976a); Taiwan - Tingch'ieting (Lin, 1949), Kaohsiung (Huang & Yu, 1997); South China Sea - Nansha Islands (Dai & Xu, 1991); Philippines - south of Manila Bay (Moosa, 1981); Indonesia - Tanahjampea and Saleh Bay (Leene, 1938), Sunda Strait and Ambon (Stephenson, 1972a); 35-50 m.
