Aethra scruposa

(Linnaeus, 1764)

Carapace transversely oval. Frontal region confluent with protogastric region, both elevated; mesogastric region cut into triangular elevations. Dorsal surface uneven, elevations with coarse granules. Front produced, anterior margin truncated and with eroded spots; dorsal surface depressed. Lateral border of the carapace arched and upturned, cut into five lobes. Posterior margin straight but slightly concave in the median, with four fissures on each side. Chelipeds equal, compressed, stout; palm with the inner surface flat, its margin sharp, cristiform and armed with triangular teeth; outer surface granulated and corrugated; immovable finger broad and depressed; dactyl acutely triangular. Ambulatory legs entirely concealed, with both borders thin, armed with triangular teeth. (Guinot 1998)
