It differs from the related species P. (Aulacolambrus) hoplonotus (Adams et White, 1894) in having the merus of cheliped 2.65 times longer than broad, in Parthenope hoplonotus 4.1, and in having the sixth segment of male abdomen longer than broad, in Parthenope hoplonotus broader than long. (Shen et al., 1982)

Range: China - South China Sea and Beibu Gulf (Shen et al., 1982), South China Sea (Dai & Yang, 1991); Taiwan.
