Umalia misakiensis

(Sakai, 1937)

Carapace relatively broad, the breadth being more than 3/4 the total length, its surface closely and finely granular; distance between external orbital angles much less than half carapace breadth; five fronto-orbital teeth; antero-lateral teeth strong, erect and triangular, clearly larger than exorbital teeth. Eyes normally developed, cornea as broad as eyestalk. Dactylus of fourth pereiopod elongately quadrangular, its distal border broadly rounded. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: Misaki, Sagami Bay, Japan, 100-150 m.
Range: Japan - Misaki, Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1937a), Tsuyazaki (Miyake et al., 1962), Sagami Bay, Kii Minabe and Okinoshima, Shimane Prefecture (Sakai, 1965b), Kii Nagashima (Serène & Umali, 1972), Sagami Bay, Kii Nagashima, Kii Minabe, and Okinoshima (Sakai, 1976a), Kushimoto (Miyake, 1983); Philippines - South Pangkao Island, off Bohol (Serène & Umali, 1972).
