Anterior and lateral surfaces of carapace covered with tubercles, some of which are spine-shaped; pseudorostral spine simple; rostral spine less than half as long as pseudorostral spines. Chelipeds of male longer than the following ambulatory legs. Merus of second to fourth pereiopods armed with spinules on anterior border, posterior one with granules and some spinules. Proximoventral corner of propodus of fifth pereiopods strongly produced and provided with spines. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: Tosa Bay, Japan.
Range: Japan - Tosa Bay and Kumano-nada (Sakai, 1961), off Mikawa Bay, Kii Minabe and Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1976a), Tosa Bay (Miyake, 1983, Guinot & Richer de Forges, 1995); Taiwan - Nanfangau and Tachi, I-Lan County (Ng & Huang, 1997); Tungsha Islands (Ng & Huang, 1997); 150-250 m.
