Genus Asthenognathus

Stimpson, 1858

Carapace broadly trapeziform. Antero-lateral margins entire, markedly divergent backwards. A facet defined on postero-lateral portion of the carapace by an oblique ridge. Dorsal surface naked, pubescent toward the margins. Front subtruncate. Presence of an infraorbital ridge. Third maxillipeds widely distant; ischium and merus separate; ischium longer than the merus, basally broad; dactylus jointed at the tip of the propodus, cylindrical. Chelipeds stout, palm high. Ambulatory legs: P2 and P3 the longest and with their meri stout; P4 small and slender; P5 very reduced in size. (Guinot 1998)
