Carapace hexagonal in outline, although the front and antero-lateral borders together form an arc of a circle, and almost flat transversely. Antenna standing in the wide orbital hiatus, but article 2+3 not reaching the front. Chelipeds very unequal and massive in large males. Abdomen with all segments distinct. (Guinot 1998)
