Carapace subcircular or oval. Surface flat, without distinct regions, naked, more or less granular. Lateral margins convex, feebly dentate and without clear delineation between antero- and postero-lateral parts. Front about half the greatest breadth of the carapace. Antennules folded obliquely. Chelipeds remarkably unequal and dissimilar in both sexes. Large cheliped with a very short fixed finger; dactyl shorter than the width of palm, convex; small cheliped with the two fingers similar in shape, more or less conical and thin towards their extremity; dactyl as long as the width of the palm. Male abdomen with five segments. Symbiotic forms. (Guinot 1998)
