Carapace elongate, fusiform. Dorsal surface naked; regions not defined. One or two antero-lateral spines. Fronto-orbital border narrow, tridentate. A single pair of orbital fissures. Thoracic sternum deflexed at the level of sternite 7, the sternite 8 perpendicular to the preceeding; sternite 4 wide; sternite 5 with a pair of long projections; sternite 6 only lateral. Chelipeds with somewhat elongate and flattened propodus; fixed finger long. P5 reduced. Spermathecal apertures close together, longitudinal in outline. Presence of a locking mechanism of abdomen, with hooks on the projections of sternite 5 fitting into sockets on segment 6. (Guinot 1998)
