Carapace less than 1.5 times as broad as long, surface neither sulcate nor cristate, medially granulate; front narrow; lateral borders marked with a crest across their whole length. Third maxilliped with merus shorter than ischium. Male cheliped about two times as along as carapace, lower border of palm rounded. Second pereiopod longer than third, meri of second to fifth pereiopods with undivided and clear tympana. Male abdomen with segment V about as broad as segments VI and VII. (Türkay 1995)

Range: Japan - (de Haan, 1835), Sagami Bay and Nagasaki (Ortmann, 1894a), Shimoda (Stimpson, 1907, Sakai, 1935), Mutsu Bay (Yokoya, 1928), Usu Bay, Tateyama Bay, Chiba Prefecture, Shimoda, Kure, Nagasaki, Hirado, Kagoshima, Tosa Bay and Okinawa (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), entire coasts from Usu Bay, Hokkaido, southward to Yaeyama-retto (Sakai, 1976a), Amakusa (Yamaguchi et al., 1976), Ishigaki-jima (Miyake, 1983), Usu, Hokkaido (Komai et al., 1992), Okukubi River, Okinawa (Shokita et al., 1998); Korea - Hae-undae, Songnam, Bangjugpo, Daeheugsan Island, Bi-geum Island, Jeju, Moseulpo, Seogwipo, Pyoseon, Seongsanpo, Eocheong Island, Gyeogpo Ri, Anmyeon Island, Seopo Ri, Yeong-jong Island, and Baegryeong island (Kim, 1973), Samyang, Cheju-do (Kim & Chang, 1985; China - Shandong Peninsula (Shen, 1932), Hong Kong, Sha-Dien, near Guangzhou, and Bo Hai (Shen, 1935), Ningbo and Tsimei (Shen, 1940b), Guangdong and Fujian (Dai & Yang, 1991); Taiwan - Pei-Men, Tainan County, Te-Shen, P'eng-hu County, and Uen-Ann, Hsin-chu County (Huang et al., 1992); estuary or inland sea, above and below high tidal mark.
