Neosarmatium smithi

Carapace about 1.1 times as broad as long, surface smooth, shining, punctate, setae in short tufts on anterior half, and posteriorly in rows along branchial lines; lateral margins slightly convergent posteriorly, antero-lateral margins with two forwardly directed teeth behind exorbital angle, the first one larger than exorbital tooth, the second blunt, minute but obvious; front with lateral angles rounded, postfrontal lobes distinct. Exopod of third maxilliped narrow, not much visible in frontal view. Cheliped merus with posterior border minutely granulate and faintly striated; palm with a swollen longitudinal ridge on upper surface, outer surface naked, with a median longitudinal crest, inner surface smooth except for a strongly raised granular vertical crest continuing obliquely for about two thirds of fixed finger; dactyl of male with three strong, truncate chitinous teeth on dorsal margin, spaced evenly over proximal half.
