Galene bispinosa

(Herbst, 1783)

Carapace moderately broad, somewhat pentagonal in outline. Surface with the regions feebly marked, its greater part smooth but usually granular near the borders. Antero-lateral border indistinctly four-lobed, the first obsolete, the second usually marked by a granular denticle, the third and fourth by two coarse granular spines. Front obliquely bilobed but appearing quadridentate, because of the inner and outer angles of each lobe equally prominent. Chelipeds unequal and massive in large males; palm smooth, except for small and sparse granules in the proximal part. Ambulatory legs long, stoutish; upper margin of merus scabrous and spinulate. (Guinot 1998)
