Lachnopodus bidentatus

(A. Milne Edwards, 1867)

Carapace transversely oval, surface smooth and regions well defined. Front straight and divided into 2 lobes by a shallow V-shaped notch. Antero-lateral margin with 4 lobes: the first flat, the others dentiform, the third the most prominent and the last smaller; 1 oblique groove extended inwards from side between second and third teeth.
Chelipeds asymmetrical. Carpus with 2 obtuse teeth at the inner-distal angle. Palm with a shallow longitudinal groove along subdorsal margin of the outer surface. Dactylus with sharp tip and with no gap between fingers.
First pleopod with distal portion curved laterally; distal end of the dorsal lobules triangular and directed upwards. Male abdomen narrow and long; the sixth segment broader than long. Telson bluntly triangular. Female abdomen oval. Carapace length of male 11.1 mm, breadth 16.3 mm; of the female, length 11.9 mm, breadth 17.5 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)

Type locality: Sandwich Island, Hawaiian Islands.
Range: Andaman Islands (Alcock, 1898); Christmas Islands; Taiwan; China - Paracel Island (Dai & Yang, 1991); Philippines - Zamboanga (Miers, 1886); New Guinea; Fiji; Hawaiian Islands - Sandwich Island (A. Milne Edwards, 1867); Tahiti (Forest & Guinot, 1961); shallow waters.
