Macromedaeus crassimanus

(A. Milne Edwards, 1867)

Carapace convex, with regions and subregions well defined in anterior two-thirds of the surface, interregional grooves conspicuous, but flatter and even, with pits in posterior one-third. Front antero-lateral margin bearing 5 teeth behind the outerorbital tooth: the first depressed, the third the largest, the last the smallest.
Carpus and palm of chelipeds with uneven tubercles on the dorsal surface. Palm smooth on the inner and outer surface. Fingers with tips slightly hollow, not gaping. Ambulatory legs smooth except for merus which is with a short pubescence on the dorsal margin.
First pleopod of the male with distal portion slightly curved laterally; tip nib-shaped, armed with hook-shaped spines on its border opening. Male abdomen narrow and long; sixth segment longer than broad. Telson triangular. Carapace length of the male 12.2 mm, breadth 18.5 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)

Type locality: New Caledonia.
