Carapace covered with a fine pile; one pair of frontal ridges, one pair of protogastrics, mesogastric uninterrupted or very inconspicuously interrupted in mid line, epibranchial ridges interrupted by cervical grooves only, a broad median cardiac ridge, a pair of mesobranchial ridges joined to the last antero-lateral tooth; front with 6 lobes of very unequal shape; 5 antero-lateral teeth, fourth by far the smallest, sometimes missing. Basal antennal joint proximally with 3 prominent tubercles and distally with a raised crest made of smaller tubercles. Upper surface of cheliped palm with 2 spines on anterior and 2 on posterior borders, respectively; inner face inflated, finely but sparsely granulate. Posterior border of propodus of swimming leg with 7 spinules. Male first pleopod stout, with flared tip. (Türkay 1995)
Front 4 or 6-lobed (median frontal lobes each indistinctly resolvable into 2), median and submedian frontal lobes in the form of 2 broad overlapping lobes, lateral and submedian frontal lobes distinguishable; 5 antero-lateral teeth, first antero-lateral tooth entire, fourth antero-lateral tooth small or absent; basal antennal joint with granules, serrations or low teeth; carapace ridges present posterior to epibranchial ridges; outer surface of hand of cheliped bearing granular carinae. Range: Japan - Amami-Oshima (Minei, 1971), Tosa Okinoshima (Sakai, 1939, 1976), Satsuma (Stephenson, 1976), Mage-jima, Kagoshima Prefecture (Takeda, 1977b), Kakeroma-jima near Amami-Oshima (Takeda, 1989); Taiwan - T'ai-pei, Ping-tung, and I-lan Provinces (Huang & Yu, 1997); Wake Island (Edmondson, 1925); Hawaiian Islands - Honolulu (Stephenson, 1976); shallow waters.
