Carapace closely beset with fine hairs; a pair of short frontal ridges, one pair of protogastrics, a pair of mesogastrics, epibranchial ridge interrupted by cervical groove and medially, one pair mesobranchial, and one cardiac ridge which may be interrupted medially; front with 6 lobes, lateral ones quite broad and low; five antero-lateral teeth, first one with a tiny subsidiary tooth at its base, fourth and fifth smallest. Basal antennal joint with a inconspicuous ridge bearing 7-8 large granules. Upper surface of cheliped palm with 1 spine on anterior and 2 spines on posterior border, respectively; inner face smooth. Posterior border of propodus of swimming leg with 5-7 spinules. Male first pleopod short, stout, slightly sinuous, and with flared tip; inner surface smooth, outer surface with about 20 bristles. Front 6-lobed, median frontal lobes as broad as submedians; first antero-lateral tooth with tiny subsidiary basal tooth, fourth antero-lateral tooth or normal size; posterior border of propodus of fifth leg with a variable number of spines. (Davie 1999)
