Carapace very broad (breadth 2-2.4 times length); surface with conspicuous elevated granular areas; areas well delimited; front with 4 acute lobes, outer pair much larger than inner ones; antero-lateral borders with 9 teeth, acuteness increasing fore to aft, last one very large and projecting straight out laterally; postero-lateral junctions bear a spine. Antero-external angle of merus of third maxillipeds markedly produced into a lobe. Cheliped merus with postero-distal end with 2 long sharp spines, anterior border with 4 spines; carpus with 2 spines; palm with 1 spine on upper distal border, lower surface smooth. Posterior border of merus and propodus of swimming leg serrated, other joints without spines or spinules. (Türkay 1995)
Postero-lateral junction of carapace angular or spinous; front distinctly 4-toothed or 4-lobed; median post-cardiac granular patch with granules separate; posterior border of arm of cheliped with 2 spines; posterior border of merus of natatory leg serrated but without a spine. (Davie 1999)
Type locality: "Oceano Indico", probably from south-east coast of India (Apel & Spiridonov, 1998: 293).
