Carapace moderately broad (breadth slightly less than twice length); surface with elevated areas, whose granulation is not always distinct and which are separated by areas of fine pubescence; regions well recognizable; front truncate very indistinctly quadrilobate; antero-lateral borders with 9 teeth, last one much larger than the preceeding ones and projecting slightly backwards; postero-lateral junction about rectangular. Antero-external angle of merus of third maxillipeds markedly produced into a lobe. Chelipeds moderately stout, granulated and tomentose; merus with a spine and a lobulated tooth at postero-distal border, anterior border with 2-3 spines; carpus with 2 spines; upper surface of palm with one distal spiniform lobule, lower surface smooth. Posterior border of swimming leg with the usual fringing hairs. (Türkay 1995)

Postero-lateral junction of carapace angular or spinous; front indistinctly 3-lobed (sinuous) or flat; posterior border of arm of cheliped with two teeth. (Davie 1999)
