Genus Thalassograpsus

Carapace broader than long. Dorsal surface with sharp epigastric ridges. Antero-lateral margins cut into two teeth behind the exorbital angles, the second narrow and acute. Front nearly half the breadth of carapace, its anterior margin notched in the middle. Presence of a suborbital ridge four-lobed in males, regularly granular in females. Third maxillipeds not leaving a gap between them and meeting completely in the middle line of the buccal cavern; merus nearly quadrate, and with its outer margin straight; ischium with a fine longitudinal sulcus; palp articulating in the middle portion of the anterior border of the merus; exopodite narrower than the ischium. Chelipeds with a patch of hairs only on inner surface. Ambulatory legs with the dactyli styliform. (Guinot 1998)
