Genus Discoplax

A. Milne Edwards, 1867

Carapace smooth to weakly granulated, antero-lateral crest very weak in adult individuals, distinct in juveniles; fronto-orbital width more than half the maximum breadth of carapace; front straight to convex; suborbital crest absent. Interantennular septum broad; epistome well defined and prominent. Pterygostomial regions covered by a velvet of hairs which is as high as broad. Exopodite of third maxilliped with flagellum. Chelipeds largely heterochelous or homochelous in adults, merus clearly shorter than palm. Carpus and propodus of second to fifth pereiopods with rows of hairs, dactyli with spine rows.
