Genus Neoxanthias

Carapace regions composed of areolae, either projecting and smooth or with irregular crests giving their surfaces an eroded aspect, or noticeably subdivided, sometimes a least into numerous small lobes; in all cases, the four teeth on the antero-lateral margins being blunt and rounded or being slightly projecting lobes. Front not extending beyond the supraorbital angles. Male chelipeds subequal or feebly unequal. (Guinot 1998)
