Genus Kraussia

Carapace rounded to slightly elongate, width to length ratio 1.1-1.2. Dorsal surface uniformly convex; regions not well defined, grooves very shallow. Antero-lateral margins lined with four slender, sharp epibranchial spines. Postero-lateral margins short, distinctly concave. Front produced. Third maxillipeds very elongated; merus slightly longer than broad. Chelipeds: fingers short, never black pigmented, deeply excavated, distinctly spoon-shaped. Ambulatory legs: merus short, stout; dactylus spade-like. Thoracic sternum very elongate. (Guinot 1998)
