Genus Ihlopsis

Carapace convex, broadest near its middle, dorsal surface without obvious hairs, provided with sharp spines; pseudorostral spines very long, much longer than rostral breadth and more than two times rostral length, with a number of well developed accessory spines; rostrum simple, directed obliquely downwards. No pigmented patches on palm of cheliped near base of dactylus. Ambulatory legs not flattened. Dactylus of fifth pereiopod slightly curved, prehensile against the produced proximoventral corner of propodus, which bears two long spines. (Türkay 1995)
