Tetralia cinctipes

Paulson, 1875

The exorbital width is less than the maximum width of the carapace. The proximal part of the supero-external margin of the palm of the larger cheliped has a tomentose cavity more or less developed. The cutting margin of the fixed finger of the smaller cheliped is denticulate. The first pleopod of the male has, on the distal third of both its margins, a tuft of more than 50 spines (movable) more or less entangled and of about the same size. The frontal margin is yellowish, orange or clear brown. On the larger cheliped of the male the fixed finger has a cutting margin that is always dentate, and is flat in transverse section; the two fingers are in contact throughout their lengths, or nearly so, when closed. The dactylus of the larger cheliped of the male is noticeably shorter than half the length of the superior margin of the palm. The carapace is light nut-brown, darker on the front and antero-lateral regions. The palm of the larger cheliped is dark brown on its superior part and lighter coloured with a reticulation of brown lines on the external lateral face; the movable finger is brownish-red, the fixed finger is lighter in colour; the ambulatory legs are dark brown with transverse lighter zones. Size: 6.9 x 8.4 mm. (Serène, 1984)
