In this species, the carapace is uniformly dark pink with pale whitish mottles. It is probably identical with Trapezia areolata of Forest & Guinot, 1961, not of Dana, 1851. (T. Sakai, 1976)
Type locality: Taiwan.
Range: Japan - Kabira, Ishigaki-jima and Taketomi-jima (Sakai, 1976a), Yoron-jima (Castro, 1999b); Taiwan - (Chang et al., 1987), Lan-Yü (Castro, 1999b); South China Sea - Taiping Island, Nansha Islands (Castro, 1999b); Guam (Castro, 1999b); Indonesia - Ambon (Castro, 1999b); Niue Island (Castro, 1999b).
