Carapace closely beset with fine hairs only missing at ridges, 3 gastric ridges, epibranchial ridge interrupted by cervical groove, 2 mesobranchial and 1 cardiac ridges; front with 6 lobes; 5 antero-lateral teeth fourth smallest. Basal antennal joint with an acute raised crest, smooth in adults, bearing beaded granules in smaller and denticular granules in very young specimens. Upper surface of cheliped palm with 2 spines on anterior and posterior borders, respectively, sometimes the antero-distal reduced to a tubercle; inner face either smooth or with distinct carina including all intergradations, occasionally with squamiform markings. Posterior border of propodus of swimming leg with about 5-7 spines. Male first pleopod short and stout, practically straight up to tip, this last one sharply curved, flared and truncated; inner surface with 3-7 bristles; outer surface with 15-20 bristles. Front 6-lobed, median and submedian frontal lobes rounded and clearly separated by notches, lateral and submedian frontal lobes distinguishable; first antero-lateral tooth entire; fourth antero-lateral tooth small or absent; basal antennal joint with granules, serrations or low teeth; carapace ridges present posterior to epibranchial ridges, cardiac ridge present; propodus of fifth leg with 4 to 8 spines.
