Parthenope curvispinus

(Miers, 1879)

Species of a medium size. Carapace apparently broader than long, and the rostrum not much produced anteriorly. The spine at the postero-lateral angle of each branchial region enormous in size and of a blade-like shape. Carapace uniformly covered with tiny granules. Three spines of a medium size in front of the huge branchial spine and a same one in the rear of it. (T. Sakai, 1976)

Type locality: Java Sea.
Range: Mauritius; Sri Lanka; Andaman Islands (Alcock, 1895a); north of Sumatra - Uleelheue (Flipse, 1930); Japan - Okinawa (Sakai, 1976a); South China Sea - Nansha Islands (Chen & Xu, 1991); Indonesia - Java Sea (Miers, 1879c), Tanahjampea, Saleh Bay (Flipse, 1930).
