Umalia orientalis

Carapace relatively narrow, the breadth being less than 3/4 the total length, its surface covered with transverse or oblique rows of granules; distance between external orbital angles more than half carapace breadth; seven fronto-orbital teeth; antero-lateral teeth small, spiniform, about as large as exorbital teeth. Eyes normally developed, cornea as broad as eyestalk. Dactylus of fourth pereiopod elongately quadrangular, its distal border broadly rounded. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: south of Manazuru Peninsula, Sagami Bay, Japan, 85 m.
Range: Japan - Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1963a), Sagami Bay, off Mikawa and Kii Nagashima (Sakai, 1965b), Mikawa Bay (Serène & Umali, 1972), Sagami Bay, Mikawa Bay, Kumano-nada, Kii Nagashima, and Kii Minabe (Sakai, 1976a), Ogasawara-shoto (Takeda, 1977a), off Mikawa Bay, Wagu and Tosa Bay (Muraoka, 1998); Taiwan; South Chinese Sea (Dai & Yang, 1991); 50-120 m.
