Genus Hypocolpus

Rathbun, 1897

Carapace much broader than long and trapezoidal in outline. Dorsal surface with regions and subregions well indicated. Entire body thickly granulated and rugose. A subhepatic cavity clearly defined, without forming a strong concavity in the antero-lateral margins of the carapace. Antero-lateral margins of the carapace lobate or dentate. Presence of a defined pre-orbital tooth. No circular opening at the junction of the carpus and propodus of chelipeds. Fingers of chelipeds pointed at tip. (Guinot 1998)
