Genus Simocarcinus

Miers, 1879

Both sexes dimorphic. Carapace either narrow, or isosceles triangular in outline, very elongate, or broadish. Hepatic and branchial lobes indistinct or marked. Rostrum medially or obliquely projecting into a styliform process; its distal end looking like simple, even rounded or trilobate, or quadrilobate. Preorbital spine sharp or not produced or dorso-ventrally flattened. Postocular spine indistinct. Chelipeds small. Ambulatory legs rather stout. Male abdomen with all segments distinct. Female abdomen with five segments. (Guinot 1998)

Type species: Huenia simplex Dana, 1852, by subsequent designation of Miers, 1879.
