Genus Uca

Leach, 1814

Carapace pronouncedly broadened anteriorly; front deflexed, spatulate. Antennulary flagellum small, not hidden beneath the front. Eyestalks slender and long, the cornea small, less than one sixth of eyestalk length. Chelipeds of male enormously heterochelous, small cheliped not much larger than third maxillipeds, large chela of various shape, no stridulating apparatus on inner face of palm; female homochelous, both chelae of the size of the small chela in male. Type species: Uca una Leach, 1814, an objective junior synonym of Cancer vocans major Herbst, 1782, by monotypy.
Gender feminine.
