Genus Pinnaxodes

Heller, 1865

Small symbiotic crabs, usually living as commensals. Carapace broadly rounded, firm but not hard. Dorsal surface with regions defined. Antennae minute. Third maxillipeds: ischium and merus distinguishable, a vestige of suture between them; merus with inner distal angle curved; palp two-articulated; carpus rounded; dactylus expanded distally and spoon-shaped. Ambulatory legs: P5 articulated to body not dorsad to P4; dactyli of all pairs with simple apex. (Guinot 1998)
