Carapace broad. Dorsal surface glabrous, honey-combed, resulting from a reticulation of prominent lines of small granules enclosing small, irregular cavities; three cavities indicated on the subhepatic and sub-orbital regions. Postero-lateral margins of the carapace short, forming a deep cavity to accommodate the last three pairs of legs. Submedian frontal lobes very produced. Chelipeds coaptated with corresponding parts of the carapace. Ambulatory legs with the carpus and propodus bearing two carinae that are joined distally to form a cup. (Guinot 1998)
