Etisus splendidus

Rathbun, 1906

Large species, the carapace is more than 1.5 times as broad as long, and its dorsal surface smooth, the regions being only indistinctly demarcated, but the groove separating 4L from 5L and also that on either side of 3M+4M are very deeply impressed. Frontal lobes are slanting inward; the supraorbital angles are obtusely produced. The antero-lateral borders are well arched and bear about 11 to 13 claw-like teeth, of which five or six are distinctly larger and the most anterior one is very broad and somewhat bifurcated.
The arm bears four or five spinules disposed on the superior border, the wrist has two stout teeth at inner angle; the palm is weakly compressed and its superior border has two parallel rows of four or five obtuse protuberances. The ambulatory legs are densely fringed with stiff hairs; merus has the both borders furnished with tubercles, carpus has about four or three rows of tubercles along its anterior border; propodus and dactylus are irregularly covered with studded tubercles.
